The HIT-6 (Headache Impact Test) helps you assess how your headaches affect your quality of life and daily activities.

These few short questions will measure the impact of your migraines on your functioning, your well-being and your ability to carry out usual day-to-day activities. The results may facilitate discussions with your healthcare professional on your migraine management therapy.

What is the purpose of the HIT-6 Test?

Even if migraines or headaches seem to be a part of your everyday life, their actual impact may be difficult to measure.

This test enables to assess:

  • The repercussion level on your day-to-day activities;
  • How your headaches affect your ability to function normally;
  • Their impact on your concentration and energy level;
  • Limitations in your social, family or professional activities;
  • The degree of distress caused by your headaches.

Before you start

  • Answer the questions according to your typical experience of the past few weeks.
  • For each question, select the answer that best indicates how often such situations happen.

Result Interpretation

The HIT-6 global score varies from 36 to 78 points.

  • 36 to 49: little to no impact on quality of life;
  • 50 to 55: moderate impact;
  • 56 to 59: significant impact;
  • 60 to 78: severe impact on day-to-day activities.

A higher score reflects a greater impact of your headaches on your daily life. Results will help your pharmacist or physician to assess if your current therapy meets your needs.
